About me
Tara Chiatovich has worked as a research and data scientist for more than a decade across industry, academia, public education, and the non-profit sector. Her projects have spanned getting AI into products, extracting insights from national education datasets, leading webinars, and using psychometrics in survey development and scoring. She currently serves as Director of Research at DataKind, a non-profit using AI and data science for good. Prior to joining DataKind, she was Senior Data Scientist at RethinkFirst and Senior Research and Data Scientist at Panorama Education, with both roles focusing on how to best incorporate insights from data into education technology products. Tara has focused her attention on issues impacting learners throughout her career. Early on, she managed the Early Learning Study at Harvard, a large-scale study of young children's formal and informal learning, and spent two years as an SDP fellow, working as a data specialist in an urban school district where her analyses informed policy decisions. Tara holds an Ed.M. in international education policy from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Stanford University.
